Our favorite sustainable fashion luxury brand, Elvis & Kresse has just announced an exciting new collaboration with LIVARI – Alysia Reiner’s & new zero waste runway label. LIVARI is a zero-waste fashion label launched last fall by Alysia Reiner, Claudine DeSola (Caravan Stylist Studio) & Tabitha St. Bernard-Jacobs (Tabii Just, Women’s March).  Together, they’ve created the Elvis & Kresse x LIVARI Clutch Bag. Each Elvis & Kresse x LIVARI Clutch Bag is handmade to order with black leather off-cuts from the production of Burberry leather goods on and bright orange lining made from rescued silk parachute panels. Elvis & Kresse is one of our beloved channel marketing partners and we are thrilled to announce the launch of this stylish clutch. This powerful fashion duo of Elvis & Kresse x LIVARI are definitely championing the cause and elevating the conversation of sustainable brands for social consciousness in the fashion industry.

Elvis & Kresse are a pioneering and award-winning sustainable luxury brand based in England. Most famously known for their handmade luxury items made from decommissioned fire-hose and recently making waves in the news over their 5-year partnership with The Burberry Foundation. Although this partnership was officially announced already late last year, it was only brought to light after Burberry announced in September that it will stop the practice of destroying unsold goods. This 5-year partnership will seek to save a further 120 tons of leather waste from incineration.

 

LIVARI is a collaborative expression of art and activism by Alysia Reiner, Claudine DeSola (Caravan Stylist Studio) & Tabitha St. Bernard-Jacobs (Tabii Just, Women’s March). Using the art of fashion as a medium of activism and hope, LIVARI is a collaborative space where the voices of women are celebrated and uplifted.

 

It was the shared values and ambitions between LIVARI and Elvis & Kresse that made this collaboration a true meeting of hearts and minds.

 

The handmade-to-order piece celebrates a unique combination of rescued materials. Black leather off-cuts from the production of Burberry leather goods and reclaimed printing blankets are combined to create a stunning black-on-black exterior with a fun apt hot-orange lining made from failed parachute silk panels.

Alysia Reiner selected the colours, material combination and designed the black-on-black pattern of the clutch. 50% of the profits from each Limited Edition Clutch will be donated to Barefoot College, supporting the education of female solar engineers and the renewable electrification of their communities.

LIVARI’s motto “JOY is an act of RESISTANCE” is delicately etched into one of the leather pieces, handwoven into the clutch. A message any woman will want to carry proudly, from day to night.

Elvis & Kresse was launched to solve the problem of London’s decommissioned fire hose. When the hose was too damaged to repair, it was simply going to landfill. Since 2005 they have been collecting all of London’s hoses, transforming them into high quality, hand-crafted lifestyle accessories. They donate 50% of the profits from this collection to the Fire Fighters Charity.

Elvis & Kresse have also turned their attention to tackling the waste created in the production of leather goods and will expand this work with a grant from the Burberry Foundation.

Everyone engages with a clutch in a slightly different way, but we wanted to make this practical shape work for everyone. The strap can be removed, attached at both ends, or looped onto one of the side hooks. We have counted 5 ways of carrying this so far and leave the rest to your imagination. You can choose the length of strap: the Standard classic length strap, the over-the-shoulder adjustable long strap, or the ultimate in flexibility – Both straps!

THE FIRE & HIDE COLLECTION

 

In 2005 we fell in love with London’s decommissioned fire-hose. Determined to save it from landfill we took this lifesaving material home, gave it a second chance, and vowed to donate 50% of the profits to the Fire Fighters Charity. But fire-hose was just the beginning.

 

Every year, 800,000 tonnes of leather ends up on the cutting room floor. Our leather partners cherish their hides, but no matter how carefully they cut their patterns, there will always be small seemingly unusable offcuts. To rescue this leather we developed a unique modular approach. We hand weave these fragments into whole new hides then lovingly recraft them into sustainable luxury bags and accessories. Our commitment to rescuing British fire-hoses remains the same, the trim, handles and internal detailing of the Fire & Hide range are all made from genuine decommissioned fire-hose. And we continue to donate 50% of profits to charity.

 

Our Fire & Hide Collection represents a whole new kind of luxury. One that is sustainable, ethical, transparent, generous and kind.
