RIXO x House of Christian Lacroix Spring Summer 2020 “See Now, Buy Now” Presentation During London Fashion Week at Kimpton Fitzroy London

Saturday 15th February, London – RIXO founders, Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey welcomed guests to Kimpton Fitzroy London for an haute-couture-inspired world of extravagance where they unveiled a see now, buy now collaboration collection RIXO x House of Christian Lacroix. In an effort to remain sustainable and special, pieces from the latest collection are 1 of 50 globally. The limited-edition capsule will be available to buy the moment it debuts exclusively in-store and online with RIXO and Browns, as well as at Galeries Lafayette Champs Elysees Paris concept store from size XXS (UK6) to XL (UK16)

Guests floated into a naturally lit ballroom to the soothing lullaby of a harpist and were treated to AIX rose wine, signature RIXO gin cocktails by Slingsby, as well as delicious grazing tables with Marie-Antoinette inspired mountains of fruit, macarons towers, eclairs, meringues & cakes!

A podium display of haute couture Christian Lacroix pieces, that inspired the new ready-to-wear collaboration was curated by V&A curator. A hot pink U-shaped catwalk framed the ballroom and was adorned with candelabras, grand floral arrangements in ornate vases on columns and upcycled rose trellises. Models were made up of women that the founders street cast, genuine customers and friends of the brand – real #HumansofRIXO. A string octet performed a romantic symphony of classical sounds while models slinked across the stage and showered their adoring audience in roses. Drag queen Dinah Lux modeled a look from the collection keeping the atmosphere exaggerated and energetic

RIXO founders delved into the House of Christian Lacroix’s vintage archives in Paris and re-engineered iconic prints. Capturing the essence of Christian Lacroix’s archive, the collection consists of nineteen elevated ready-to-wear looks, so good they would make Absolutely Fabulous’ Edina and Patsy exclaim “Lacroix, sweetie!”

Henrietta Rix, Co-founder of RIXO said: At just four years into RIXO, it’s amazing to see how open and forward-thinking our favourite historic fashion house is to collaborating with an emerging contemporary brand. It was a dream come true when we saw the email hit our inbox (literally sent shivers up our spine!) – we screeched with excitement and set up a coffee date with the team immediately. The beauty of not having investors and being female founders is that we can follow our instincts– when we’re passionate about something and know in our gut it’s right, we jump in headfirst and go straight to work. It’s been the biggest pinch-me moment of RIXO so far!

Orlagh McCloskey, Co-founder of RIXO said: Both Henrietta and I have always been obsessed with Christian Lacroix. On our vintage hunting trips in Paris the best pieces we’d find and love the most would always be Lacroix. Being let loose in the House of Christian Lacroix archive in Paris to delve into the true history and DNA of the brand was awe-inspiring. The Lacroix DNA is so in tune with RIXO’s – their vibrant visual prints and their completely individual and empowering viewpoint on style- it felt natural to collaborate. We’re so proud of what we have been able to create together!

Exuberance and fun, designs play with varying scales and combinations of prints – juxtaposing diagonal stripes, florals, polka dots and checks. Lacroix’s dynamic motifs combined with a contemporary RIXO twist creates colourful pieces merged together for the maximalist. The collection marks RIXO’s resurgence of power suiting with two hero mini skirt suit shapes, alongside instantly recognisable RIXO dress styles and separates. RIXO kept true to the baroque-inspired elements synonymous with the House of Christian Lacroix using statement gold buttons, embellished butterflies, contrasting pockets, 3D rosettes, velvet trims, oversized jewel embellishment and pleated ruffles all in bright punchy hues

Each look was styled using vintage Christian Lacroix jewellery and bags loaned from the brand’s Paris archive. To complete the look Manolo Blahnik provided hero shoe styles.

The accompanying hair and beauty looks brought to life an eighties inspired runway dream. NARS Cosmetics provided a vivid colour-pop statement eye. For hair, Secret Spa delivered over-the-top elegance in the form of either a blowdried pinned-up style with spiral curl fringe or sleek pulled back hair with statement plaited top bun. Nails were manicured by essie with monochrome polka dots designs.

Always inclusive, customers are at the heart of RIXO, therefore a wide selection of lucky consumers won the chance to attend the show which was also live-streamed via Instagram and projected at RIXO’s King’s Road store, @rixo followers and customers could witness the show first-hand.

The brand’s philosophy is to evoke a wanderlust & free spirit in all their wearers, filling a gap in the contemporary market with easy-to-wear, feminine shapes and high-quality materials.

Always inclusive, always empowering, the RIXO founders create a fusion of unique prints and timeless silhouettes to flatter every woman, irrespective of age, size, nationality, season or time of day.

Stocked by internationally renowned boutiques, iconic department stores and global online retailers, as well as their own e-commerce site, RIXO has gained recognition as a brand-to-watch. ABOUT BROWNS Browns launched into the London scene in 1970. At a time when there were no multi-brand boutiques, Joan Burstein and her husband Sidney bought the first of five Georgian townhouses on South Molton Street and changed the course of retail and fashion history forever. The first to introduce brands such as Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein to the UK, the wonderful Mrs Burstein also discovered home grown talents such as Alexander McQueen and John Galliano, championing them in a way that no one else could. Until Browns, graduates didn’t sit in boutiques alongside big designers, so this unique edit and the discovery of these talents changed not only how Browns and future retailers looked at clothes, but where we looked for them. The search for creativity, innovation and originality continues to define the Browns spirit.

In 2015, Farfetch also known for its pioneering approach, bought and invested in Browns, with Holli Rogers joining Browns as CEO that same year. Combining the Browns DNA with Farfetch’s tech brilliance, Browns is now on a journey to be the luxury shopping experience of the future; harmonising the best parts of the beloved boutique shopping experience with the speed and convenience of e-tail. Browns opened Browns East in October 2017, the first incarnation of Browns Nomad. This was Browns first new store in over 20 years and compliments the flagship on South Molton Street which in 2020 will relocate to Brook Street, Mayfair.
