Norma Kamali, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Mara Hoffman and Mimi Prober are coming together with Sadhguru and the Isha Foundation for Fashion for Peace. The Feb. 13 group presentation will play up conscious design while supporting artisans and designers through their work.

Sadhguru and the Isha Foundation culled more than 100 Indian textiles that have been woven in a steeped tradition for some 5,000 years. Kamali found them so precious that she chose to solely drape them. The centuries-old process is at risk due to the looming shadow of fast fashion and the artisans’ offspring opting for college rather than carrying on the textile traditions. To draw attention to these techniques, each designer is creating four to six exclusive looks for the Spring Studios event. (Fans of Priyanka Chopra and Joe Jonas will recognize Mukherjee’s name for designing the attire they wore for their second wedding celebration on Dec. 2 in Jodphur.)

THE TURKISH GROUP SHOW – NYFW FALL/WINTER 2019

NEW YORK, NY (February 2019) – The snow falling outside couldn’t dampen the upbeat, celebratory spirits of those that braved the elements to support three Turkish designers who made their NYFW debut on the runway of Industria Studios in the heart of the West Village.  Under the simple moniker “The Turkish Group Show”, Buket Özkalfalar, Gökhan İldeniz & Firat Neziroglu, each showed strong visions that truly demonstrated their place in the show, which was sponsored by the Turkish Government as well as the Turkish Textile Council, was truly deserved.

Buket Özkalfalar – Buket Ozkalfalar seemed to be channeling a Goth version of the Great Gatsby when her pen took to the sketch pad.  Inventive versions of flapper dresses mixed seamlessly with futuristic frocks, many finished off with red carpet-worthy Black evening coats.  Feather accents softened the collection & provided an overtone of whimsy & added yet another dimension to the collection of this notable newcomer.

Gökhan İldeniz – Gökhan İldeniz presented a casual vision of menswear for his Fall 2019 collection NYFW debut.  Based mostly in denim with a serious dose of hand-hewn, artisanal detailing like whip-stitching, patch-work, & inventive dying techniques that gave a broken-in, pre-worn, comfortable feel.  The roughly cut, raw pelt-like furs added a rugged, almost costume-like feel.

Firat Neziroglu – Menswear designer Firat Neziroglu, presented a collection that was pleasantly conflicted between dressy suiting & artsy-craftsy handmade separates.  In some cases, the dichotomy coexisted on one piece such as the rope closures on suit jackets or the yarn-based details on jackets & at other times, the two worlds were artfully mixed in an ensemble like the heavy, handwoven scarves worn over tailored outerwear & giant, open gauge hand knit cardigans over suiting jackets & trousers.

One of the Newest Celeb Favorites, Rufat Ismayel of AFFFAIR Brought Glamour and Lots of Sparkle to Spring Studios To Close Out NYFW

Image

New York, NY (February 13, 2019) – It is fitting that one of Hollywood’s newest go-to labels, Afffair, closed out NYFW at Spring Studios with a sultry, empowering, feminine collection from Azerbaijani designer, Rufat Ismayil.

The haute couture looks ranged from cocktail to evening-wear, with very avant-garde silhouettes and intricate designs. Bodysuits were paired with multi-meter long trains;  each look adorned with headpieces made of feathers, beads, and embellished hairpins.

Turkish supermodel, Tülin Sahin, opened the show with a two-piece ensemble complete with a beaded midriff bomber jacket and a satin emerald pleated skirt; giving off sophisticated “school girl” vibes. Each as unique a butterfly’s wings, lace details abounded in sultry pantsuits to cocktail dresses expertly merging lace and velvet. Standout pieces included a lace belted pantsuit and the finale piece, also worn by Sahin, a black velvet long sleeve evening gown with a voluminous ruched bottom in deep goldenrod. The finale piece was selected and customized for Ashanti at The Grammy’s this past Sunday demonstrating the designers growing relationship with Hollywood’s elite.

Though most of the collection featured meticulous black lace and organza textiles; emerald green satin, lush silver velvet, and billowing gold layers of chiffon and satin created a rich color palette for the runway.

The collection was inspired by a trip Ismayil took to North America where the Monarch Butterfly’s intricate wings mesmerized him into a trance of lace, organza, and chiffon.

Notable attendees included Francesca Curran [Orange is the New Black], Jennifer Aydin  [The Real Housewives of New Jersey], Angelina Pivarnick [Jersey Shore], Daniella Salvi, Rahmeka Cox [Miss New York 2018].

The hair lead was Aubrey Loots [@lootypics] for Wella Professionals [@wellahair] and Makeup lead was Michelle Webb [michellewebbmakeup] for Dollhouse Xpress [@dollhousexpress]. The dramatic lashes were provided by Christoph Eye Couture [@christopheyecouture]

Official NYFW The Shows Calendar Runway Event

New York, New York – February 12th, 2019: The FashionWeek.Pro team was thrilled to be invited to the Firat Neziroglu AW19 – Turkish Fashion Group show in New York City during NYFW The Shows runways at Industria. FashionWeek.Pro exclusive NYFW photographer, @Julia_Sariy covered the runways from the press risers and captured fabulous backstage beauty moments. Many thanks to The Bromley Group agency and the Firat Neziroglu AW19 – Turkish Fashion Group team for allowing us to attend and record runway memories.

Our channel’s servers will be receiving a much-needed upgrade this month, as soon as this is complete we will be publishing longer editorials with full-size images. Since our record-high December 2018 stats of 5.2 million digital impressions & 20k+ clicks to sponsor content, we’ve been seriously maxed out in server capacity and CPU bandwidth. We will also be improving site speeds with the upcoming improvements.

Please follow us @FashionWeek.Pro on Instagram for NYFW stories and updates!
